Getting bounced mail messages for mail you did not send

QUESTION ------------------------------------------------------
I received an email from another ISP indicating that an email from me did not get sent. I never sent this email, what is going on?

ANSWER ------------------------------------------------------
The latest viruses use a technique which scans a users address book then randomly takes one address for the To: field and one address for the From: field to send itself to another user. If your email address was used in the From: field, then you may get subsequent processing messages from the recipients ISP. If you expand your emai header, you will see more information about the actual sending party. An example can be found at the Symantec website athttp://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.klez.h@mm.html
